Fonio is probably the oldest African grain. For thousands of years, West Africans have cultivated it across the dry savannas. It is rich in the amino acid methionine. It is also protein rich. Fonio is naturally gluten free, a heart healthy food, and a greatly aids in digestion. It is a gourmet grain, it can be enjoyed as a porridge, in soups, in stews, or even used as in replacement of rice.
