Creamy Coconut Fonio Porridge

Fonio is known as Africa's mighty grain. It's very tiny, it's gluten free, it has a natural earthy taste. It rich in protein, iron, and calcium. There's a lot say about this mighty grain that has been cultivated for the past thousand years. It has so much versatility.


  • 21/2 cups of water; 1 cup of coconut milk;1/2 cup of Adda Blooms Fonio Grain; 1/2tsp cinnamon powder;1/2tsp nutmeg;1tsp vanilla extract;1tbsp honey; pinch of salt


  • Add water and coconut milk to cooking pot. Add a pinch of salt, cinnamon powder and bring to a boil.
  • Put the whole 1/2 cup of fonio in the pot. Gradually whisk in Fonio grain, until you have the whole thing in the pot, keep stirring to prevent any lumps.
  • Reduce the heat and cook until the mixture thickens.
  • Turn off heat and serve. You garnish with nuts, dried fruits, and seeds.
